Like most of us, I have experienced stress and anxiety at times in my life. Stress is our response to a threat, in a situation we feel uncertain or uncomfortable about.

Anxiety is when stress continues, after the cause of the stress is gone.  Often I have wondered why I found a situation stressful, yet the same situation did not have the same effect on my friends or family. I now know that what is stressful for one person may not be stressful for another.

Both stress and anxiety can occur without any obvious cause and in my experience can occur when it is least expected.  Sometimes, the level of anxiety can be out of proportion to the situation, bringing about a feeling of being emotionally overwhelmed.

In future blogs, I will look as some of the different issues relating to anxiety:

  • Symptoms of Stress, Anxiety and Panic attacks
  • Free Floating Anxiety
  • Workplace Anxiety
  • Exam or Job Interview Anxiety
  • Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD)
  • Social Anxiety
  • Phobias
